I just got home from a nice relaxing dinner with some of my good girl friends. What could be a better way to start out the last weekend of summer?
Something almost as good... yesterday we got our shipment from Artyarns. I was so excited that we got these yarns into the shop. The quality of the yarns, and the colors...just fabulous. The Artyarns company includes so many yarns, you have to pick just a few...we have Silk Rhapsody, Silk Mohair Glitter, Mohair Splash and Cashmere Sock. We have free patterns for all, plus check Ravelry, there are even more. I'm not sure which I'm knitting with first...
Here's a big mosh pit of yarns..
Here's the Silk Rhapsody..
.. the Cashmere Sock...(think a cowl, an heirloom baby hat...)
..here's the Silk Mohair Glitter and the Mohair Splash..in, of course..Steeler Colors!!! Yes, as usual, we had to ask the great Artyarns people to dye us a special "Steeler Gold". There's a great pattern for an infinity type scarf-that would be great with one skein of each color...
This yarns are available on line and in our store. Call, click or stop in soon.

Groundhog Month
Ok, so I left you all hanging with that rodent report comment the other day, didn't I? Not to worry, I don't have summer mice in the house ( I did one summer..4th of July they started coming in-I can only guess that they had it with the heat/humidity and were looking for some air conditioning).
My husband started the summer out gung ho with the garden thing. He had two huge gardens, 20 + tomato plants, several zucchini plants, eggplants, peppers etc. Everything was staked, tied, fertilized and fenced within an inch of it's life. Then the early blight came. He fought that tooth and nail and "Seranade"-and won. Then we started getting produce-I was making lists of what I was going to do with all that zucchini and who I would give the excess to (by the way..Grateful Dead's Zucchini Bread recipe is awesome...thanks to Dawne for that!). Then ..... the groundhog took control of the garden. ... and the report would be...
husband 0...groundhog 10
So since I'm not up to my ears in zucchini, I started a new project yesterday, because we got this in...
that's the Tosh Merino Light.
The colors are so gorgeous, that I had a heck of a time picking just one...
but I picked Geranium Bloomsbury (I'll use the Geranium for something for my niece) and started the Hay Cardigan...
yarns and patterns are in the shop now.
PS. If you have friends who want to learn to knit..Pam is starting a Beginner's Class on September 25th, check out the classes page for more information. The rest of the class offerings will be posted soon.

Queen of the Doofuses (or is that Doofi?)
Yep, that's me. I ran out of the house this morning with my camera, and the battery charger, because I forgot to charge it last night-so I thought, "I'll charge it when I get to work for a few hours, then I'll be able to take some pictures this afternoon." So what did I do, I put the battery into the charger backwards-and now I can't get it out.
I'm going to have to ask my husband and/or son to try to get it out, I think it may just need some brawn. uh.
Well, that's why no photos with this post, so I won't tell you about any new yarn-I'll just give you an "event briefing" instead.
September is going to be a busy month and I'm giving you a quick preview now, with details to follow as it gets closer to each event.
Saturday, September 11 is the annual Sewickley Harvest Festival - we will have a booth at the festival as well as a Sidewalk Sale. Stop by at the shop and the festival and say hi!
The week of September 20th, we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary- with sales and fun events. Make sure you plan to visit us sometime during that week to join in.
Friday evening September 24th from 5-9pm, is the Sewickley Fall Gallery Walk.(twice a year we have an evening in town where the galleries stay open late - and some of the shops have mini exhibits as well). We'll be joining in the fun this time-with a small exhibit of our own.
Well, I guess I've stalled enough..I have to throw myself on the mercy of the menfolk. Wish me luck.
(hopefully you'll be hearing from me tomorrow WITH photos..)
