Linen Stitch Has Us....

For many years, before I began working at Yarns Unlimited, I had another life. In that life I still knit alot, but I had another sort of job. Without going into detail, let's just say that it involved travel and peanuts. (and no, I didn't train elephants for the circus.)

Anyway, Seattle was one of my favorite destinations, and I spent alot of time there. Often I'd take the ferry to Bainbridge Island, which is a really neat place..I'd shop, have lunch, or just walk around.  No yarn shops there then-now they have Churchmouse Yarns and Teas-and Churchmouse is now publishing their own patterns, which we have. (don't you love these circular sorts of stories ;-) ?

 This brings us to what it is that all of us at YU, staff and customers, are crazy for these days...the Koigu Linen Stitch Scarf.  

Some of us are just plodding along, others have knit 3 whole scarves already, and one of us has gone off on her own tangent...embroidering on the linen stitch and making un-scarfy things out of it. (you can probably guess who is who)

For those unfamilar with linen stitch...

Mid month we'll be getting a shipment of the new line of Churchmouse patterns, including some sweet baby things.

I just got home from a nice relaxing dinner with some of my good girl friends. What could be a better way to start out the last weekend of summer? 

Something almost as good... yesterday we got our shipment from Artyarns.  I was so excited that we got these yarns into the shop. The quality of the yarns, and the colors...just fabulous.  The Artyarns company includes so many yarns, you have to pick just a few...we have Silk Rhapsody, Silk Mohair Glitter, Mohair Splash and Cashmere Sock.  We have free patterns for all, plus check Ravelry, there are even more.  I'm  not sure which I'm knitting with first...

 ..here's the Silk Mohair  Glitter and the Mohair Splash..in, of course..Steeler Colors!!! Yes, as usual, we had to ask the great Artyarns people to dye us a special "Steeler Gold". There's a great pattern for an infinity type scarf-that would be great with one skein of each color...
